Meet The Team

Jason Plato

//

CEO & Team Principal

'JP' is one of the most successful and recognisable figures in the history of British Motorsport and now is the man that leads our BTCC mission. A two-time BTCC champion who is second only to Sir Lewis Hamilton with the most wins for his country in International Status Races since the Birth of British Motor Sport began in 1902, some 124 years ago. He has 97 BTCC career wins, 235 podiums, 50 Pole Positions, 88 Fastest Laps from 659 race starts, Statistics no other driver in the history of the BTCC is close to. JP has represented various manufacturers including Renault, Vauxhall, SEAT, Chevrolet, MG, VW and Subaru. Having retired at the end of the 2022 season and spent some time coming to terms with personal problems and rebuilding his life , JP is chasing his dream to win as a BTCC CEO & Team Principal. Plato Racing was born in August 2025 and pre-season was spent assembling a team that contains some of the finest talent to ever work in the BTCC paddock and building a pair of Mercedes-AMG A35 saloons that have already shown themselves to be super competitive out the box. JP means business and is fired up to give his drivers, team, partners and sponsors something that has never been seen before or delivered before. “We will knock everyone bandy, that I have no doubt!” he said with a characteristic JP smirk and giggle
